WikiLeaks Is Right On Schedule
An awful lot of people are on edge (and that’s putting it mildly) over the latest release of classified government documents by WikiLeaks.org.  It’s no wonder. The documents reveal conversations, intentions and strategies that were intended to be kept secret not only from the public in general but also from our enemies and allies alike.
Is the content shocking? In some cases, yes.
Is the release itself shocking? Only if you’ve been unconscious for the past several years… or   not reading my posts.
You see, for at least that long I have been writing about the paradigm shift and its concomitant effects. The most reliable of them being that with the shift there is more high frequency energy inundating our consciousness.
Higher frequency light energy.
What happens when you bring more light into a darkened (a/k/a/ denser) environment? The light illuminates the environment and the result is less darkness… fewer places where you can obscure or hide things. Things are brighter, clearer, and more easily accessible.
Now if you apply this principle to the obfuscation of facts, the obvious conclusion is that with higher consciousness there will be fewer secrets. Less ways and means of obscuring the facts as they are. The “behind the scenes†disclosures being disseminated by WikiLeaks are simply the result of the presence of light.
No more secrets.
My friends have been listening to me say that phrase repeatedly for the past several years. Mainly, because I somehow knew that the unfolding paradigm shift would bring with it real change. Not superficial change… not slogans about change… and not change for the worse, either.
While these disclosures, on their face (prima facie as we lawyers like to say) seem damning, they are, to the contrary, liberating. They will help free the world from strategies and backroom deals that have perpetuated, for millennia, deception and greed.
As I have also said, while the transition may be difficult… it’s always difficult to move from one way of doing things to another… to change a pattern… in the long run we will be better off in a world where the Light shines brighter and there are fewer dark corners in which the least of what humankind is capable of has a chance to fester and breed.
Out of the shadows and into the Light. A paradigm shift worth the effort.
For sure.
Are We Addicted To Fear?
I have a friend who has conquered several addictions in her life. It has taken much effort and courage on her part to do so. And yet, she is still plagued by an incredible amount of fears that sometime nearly immobilize her but, more commonly, pop up just often enough to just keep her from actualizing her full potential.
Today during a phone conversation with her it dawned on me she’s addicted to fear. It’s a strange statement to make, I know. Why would anyone be addicted to fear? Well, if that’s pretty much all you’ve ever known… it would be easy.
So I got to thinking how we in this country have been so conditioned with “manipulation by fear†for so long that, like my friend, we’re addicted to it.  We can‘t seem to get along without it.
After all, almost all media to which we are exposed can be summed up in the adage “Dog Bites Man†doesn’t sell. “Man Bites Dogâ€â€¦now that sells! Why? Because for a lot longer than I can attest to personally (hello? original sin?) we have been conditioned to respond to a negative rather than a positive.  And, like any conditioning, we’ve become used to it. Like hanging. Isn’t that how the saying goes? “If you hang long enough you get used to it?†Problem is, when you get used to hanging its death you’ve grow accustomed to… not life.
So it is with fear.
Whether it’s an erratic Dow Jones Industrial Average, a potential terrorist attack, a category 4 hurricane, possible flu pandemic, toxic green house gasses, or the endlessly broadcast, telecast and webcast stories of tragedy, thievery and criminality… we are hooked on being afraid. And left unchecked, fear gets in the way of movement in a positive direction. In fact, in the extreme, fear gets in the way of movement.  Period.
Our addiction makes us slaves… no matter how democratic and free we think we are.
What’s the answer?
Well, it’s like I told my friend today. She kicked diet pills, gambling and smoking by going cold turkey. Like Nancy Reagan suggested… by just saying “No.â€Â My friend got angry at herself each time she reached her tolerance limit because the substance controlled her.  She didn’t control it.
Now getting angry is not usually a good thing. But when you use anger-energy to motivate your own Will to overcome that which has overrun you… then anger gets put to constructive use. And after all, isn’t anger just another form of energy? When used correctly, all energy can be used for the highest good.
My thinking is that a nation addicted to fear needs to go cold turkey.  But we need to start one person at a time. So today, turn off or tune out or walk away from anything that emanates or generates fear. Say “no†to fear and take back your life. The alternative is slavery and death.
You’ve got a choice, you know.
It’s called Free Will.
Resting In The Flow
The past two weeks have been challenging. First recovering from a virus followed by a sprained shoulder… it’s been a lot of “non-activity†to ask of someone who is inclined to always be working on something. However, since I make it a practice to walk my talk I have to ask myself, “What is the higher lesson to be learned here?â€
I think I have it.  The Universe has a rhythm. In order to successfully live within the Universe, and in harmony with its rhythm, requires us to feel it and more importantly align with it.
I have a tendency to try to move things at my own pace. This translates into impatience.  It’s kind of funny that I still find myself impatient since I tell my clients that impatience is “the absence of trust in Divine Timing manifested as a need to control outcomes.â€
You’d think I’d remember and follow my own advice.
But, like everyone else, I have an ego that occasionally enjoys getting in my own way. When I fail to recognize or acknowledge the rhythm of the Universe (also known as Divine Timing) I am under the illusion that my will can oppose Thy will and prevail. And while I use terminology that is religious or spiritual to make the point, it’s somewhat misleading.
Energy is the source of All That Is, including us. When we fail to align with the Universal or cosmic flow of energy, it’s like attempting to swim upstream.  Better to move in tandem with that energy, or wait it out, until there is a change of either speed or direction that is more supportive of where it is we want to go.
Nature is great example. Plants have no ego. They have a time to germinate, a time to grow, a time to bud and a time to bloom. They make no effort to impose alternate timing or an alternate outcome.  If I can take some liberty and attribute to them a quality they may not exactly have… they trust the Universe.
I think someone tried to tell us to do the same when they said “To everything there is a season…â€.
So, its now two weeks into this “slow down period†and the smartest thing I can do is align with it. Having tried to do otherwise for these past fourteen days, I’ve decided today to begin doing just that. I meditated for half an hour this morning and now have written this blog. It is 10:30am. I am about to spend the rest of the day on the sofa reading, watching uplifting DVD’s and… well… not much of anything else.
Except awaiting a change of speed and direction, that is..
Chile: A Lesson To The World About Fear
Like the rest of the world I watched with rapt attention and welling emotion as the last, heroic Chilean miner was lifted from the collapsed mine after being trapped for 69 days. Defying logic and the odds, all 33 men survived an unimaginable nightmare and did so with both grace and dignity intact.
Two thoughts come to mind. 1) There are no accidents, and, 2) there are only two emotions, love and fear.
I have always been a believer that everything happens for a reason… even those things that seem to make no sense at all. For while we may not be able to make sense of some events or personal experiences, everything that happens offers the potential for growth. This is Life.
And so, in a world adrift economically, politically, and socially… 33 miners show us how to defy the odds, rise above limitation and scant resources, and accomplish the impossible.
But there’s more.
What the recent rescue teaches us is the power of Love. In a world so long enamored with the love of power, this is a much needed lesson.
The people of Chile are apparently of hearty stock, with an indomitable spirit, national pride, passion for life, unshakable belief in God, and comfort with the expression of emotion regardless of gender. Love of life, love of country, love of one another and love of God.
And the complete absence of fear.
I did not hear or see fear anywhere. Not among the trapped miners, not by the President of Chile, not by the waiting family members who camped out in the desert for months on end. Fear was absent in Chile and in the absence of fear, miracles occur.
There are no accidents. What we have witnessed in Chile is a lamp unto the nations… the hand of God… reaching out to guide us in the direction of all that is good.
May we pay attention, set our intentions, and proceed with unbridled love.
A Molecule’s Message
Nature provides the best images. Today I was looking at a representation of a molecule and it occurred to me what a wonderful image of humanity one is. Take a look at one, for example.
Noting that I am hardly a scientist, let’s look into the definition and see what wisdom and guidance we can find.
According to Miriam Webster, a molecule is the smallest particle of a substance that retains all the properties of the substance and is composed of two or more atoms. Again, according to Miriam Webster, an atom is the smallest particle of an element that can exist either alone or in combination.
So, looking at the picture, you see many individual atoms which can stand alone… but when connected by strong bonds of electrical energy, make up the building blocks of life. In fact, DNA molecules contain the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms. As in the “stuff of life.â€
So, if we move from science to spirituality, what does a molecule reveal?
Well, we are like those atoms. Individual, independent and able to exist on our own. However, we are also able to exist in combination, or, spiritually speaking, in co-creation, with another. When we do combine, or co-create, the outcome (molecule) is only as strong as the bonds (trust and compassion) that exist between us.
Don’t you just love Nature?
I have always felt that It holds the answers to all our questions about existence… if only we would open our eyes, minds and above all our hearts.
Want to have a constructive, productive and powerful day?
Check the strength of your bonds with others and, if necessary, shore them up.
The Nation’s Answer To Changing Direction
While we have known for some time that the country is headed in the wrong direction, we have been unable to uncover what we can do about it. Glenn Beck, long warning of impending difficulties, has most recently suggested prayer in order to enlist Divine intervention and assistance.
While that may seem extreme and a somewhat desperate act unlikely to affect much there is, in fact, historical evidence that to the contrary it is exactly what can save us.
Enter the Book of Esther.
It’s the story of ancient Persia and how one woman’s voice and the prayers of a multitude were all that were needed to rescue a people from the evil intentions of a corrupt and deceitful public official. It was fasting and the prayers of many that summoned Divine intervention and revealed a hidden political agenda for what it was.
The Relevance & The Answer
The people of Pur (hence the holiday of Purim) were facing down entrenched power. So are we. It was fasting and prayer that summoned Divine intervention. It is now our turn. We are at a critical stage in our existence. We are plagued by threats from multiple directions, from without and from within. Our government has become so big as to be unmanageable and our People have come to feel so small as to believe themselves irrelevant.
The Timing
Purim will be observed five months from now on February 28, 2011. Five months may be precious time we cannot afford to waste. However, Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement is observed from sunset Friday, September 17th to sunset Saturday, September 18th…16 days from today. It is a traditional day of fasting and prayer.
I would like to suggest that on Yom Kippur, this most reverent and biblically ordained day, each of us as citizens of this remarkable Nation, regardless of race or religion, fast and pray for the safety of our land and its inhabitants. Further, that we ask for Divine intervention to shine Its Light upon illusion and deceit while guiding us in turning, once and for all, toward the Light of Love and Truth.
Imagine the power and magnitude of that petition!
Outing Charlie Rangel
Either way there are going to be people unhappy with the outcome of the ethics violation findings against Congressman Charles Rangel. If it turns out there’s no deal, but rather a full trial before the House of Representatives, some will scream it’s a carnival show deliberately created by the obstruction of the four Republican members of the investigative sub-committee. If, on the other hand, there’s a deal some will scream “foul†and special treatment for the privileged that would not be afforded a more common criminal.
For me, the outcome isn’t the big story. For me, it’s the long-awaited public airing of the ethical misdeeds and illegal behavior of a sitting member of Congress and, by definition, a representative of the People charged with our trust and well-being. But as happy as I am at this long-overdue occurrence, I’m not surprised.
You see, I frequently write about the transition we are going through. Spiritually, it’s referred to as an “ascension process.†In simpler terms, it’s an expansion of human consciousness encompassing a higher vantage point from which to view our choices. (Did I just say “in simple terms…?â€)!
One of the overriding characteristics of an ascension process is that there are no more secrets. What that means is that behavior that does not support the highest good (read as “deceitful behaviorâ€) will be forced out into the open… or revealed for what it is.
Hence, Charlie Rangel… who for decades has been able to skate by and avoid the consequence of being confronted with his acts.
It would be a wise decision for anyone watching this drama to pay close attention and take heed. One need not be a public figure or famous to experience the weight of it, either. Wherever there is deceit in our lives, whether with ourselves or with another… the inevitable outcome will now be revelation.
So like any “outing  it’s probably best to do it ourselves, first, rather than have someone else choose the time and place.
Human beings, and particularly Americans, are surprisingly compassionate and forgiving of a mea culpa… and equally hardhearted and unforgiving of those who are caught throwing stones while living in glass houses.
Carpe diem. Make honesty in your life a priority. Clean up the muddy stuff. It’s not too late… for you.
Not so Charlie Rangel.
The Third Alternative for Change
Okay. These are tricky times. As uncertainty and fear escalate so too do the voices of polarization. The Left hates the Right and vice versa. But there is a more subtle polarization going on that I think is of greater importance and the strongest impediment to our successfully coming through this transition.
The other polarization is between those who wish to restore the past and those who wish to transform it.
Going back is never a good idea. The saying that “the only thing good about the good old days is that they’re gone†is true. The past had a time and a place and they are both gone. Likewise, to so fundamentally transform our Nation that it becomes unrecognizable, is to commit grave and irreversible error. To do so would be to “throw the baby out with the bath water†as another saying goes.
We, as a Nation and as human beings, are on an evolutionary journey. But this journey requires vigilance… for we have been gifted a quality found nowhere else in Nature: Free Will. And so we are not only known by our choices but, in a very literal sense, we create our reality by them as well.
Today’s choices are the womb wherein tomorrow’s circumstances gestate.
If we can’t go back because the past is no longer and we can’t discard what the best character and minds of the past 5000+ years have been working on perfecting where does that leave us?
In need of open minds that are ready and willing to comprehend the world differently. To retain the best while jettisoning the worst. To understand that change and instability are the norm. To get comfortable with being uncomfortable. To learn to be fully present, flexible and compassionate. To be able to let go while being poised to embrace.
Ever the optimist (while fighting a learned pessimism) I am certain we will succeed. I don’t think it will be easy but I think it can be exhilarating, and yes, with the right perspective and outlook, even enjoyable. Roller coasters are uncomfortable and a little scary, but fun.And when the ride is over you’re grateful to have survived it and know with certainty that you’re alive.
It’s how we’re wired.
The Inevitable: Another Gulf Oil Spill
Being highly intuitive, I have lots of like-minded, or should I say like-spirited, friends. At the onset of BP’s Gulf Oil crisis one of them said, “There’s another one coming.” What just reminded me of her prediction is the FOX Breaking News headline as I write this.
Seems there’s been another spill.
The obvious question is “What’s going on?” How can there be so much crisis and bad news day after day? How much stress can people take? And why are things as they are?
For me the answer is fairly clear since I have a habit of frequently looking at Nature to clear up the unknown. In reply to these very valid questions I look at how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Its a process of transformation… and a difficult and deadly one at that. There are stages to such transformation. As one aspect (or form) disintegrates and ceases to exist, another more graceful and less dense emerges. Such is the stuff of Life… evolving.
Einstein taught us that matter is neither created nor destroyed, only redistributed. That’s what a butterfly is…a redistributed caterpillar. Unfortunately, there’s no getting around the fact that for the caterpillar, its the end of the road, so to speak. But all roads end when you’re in the physical world. All those roads that led to Rome did also. The only road that does not end is the one that traverses the cycle of life.
That road transcends what is in a continuous journey of self-discovery.
My heart aches for all the destruction that accompanies transformation just as my Soul simultaneously delights in the potential expansion of consciousness and quality of life present in the same evolutionary moment.
The chrysalis, that stage of caterpillar transformation, where the adult structures of the butterfly are formed while the larval structures are broken down, must be stressful and can’t be all that much fun. Neither is all that we are going through. But as with the larval breakdown, we too are in a breakdown phase of our more infantile or adolescent development as sentient beings… inevitably to emerge as the butterfly…more adult, more graceful, more Light.
Amen.
The Capacity of Small Minds
Recently I met someone in a social situation. We talked at length about a wide spectrum of topics and had much to share. It was an interesting and enjoyable experience. When I suggested that he might enjoy reading some of my blog entries my suggestion was enthusiastically received.
Two days later I receive the following e-mail (to the best of my recollection as I deleted it upon reading it):
“If you think Glenn Beck is a prophet, as you wrote, then I have nothing further to say to you and we have nothing in common. I met him several years ago and he is a money-hungry phony. How anyone can listen to him is beyond me.â€
Now this is a highly educated man who owns his own publishing company that publishes a sports magazine in the Philadelphia area. So it started me thinking about three things: education, small minds and hate.
1.      My thoughts about education are neither unique nor startling. The amount of years one spends obtaining a formal education correlates to neither common sense nor wisdom. It correlates to one’s capacity to regurgitate what is being fed, and in the best of cases, to sprinkle that with some creative thinking of one’s own to hopefully generate some modicum of internally-sourced and outside-the-box thinking.  I make this statement absent jealously or resentment since I am one of those educated people, having spent 19 years in formal education on the way to obtaining a Juris Doctor in law.
All those years made me educated, in a specific way, not necessarily wise or open-minded. That requires education of a different sort.
2.      Small minds abound, even among the educated. Take my acquaintance above. His reaction is proof that the capacity to ingest and digest factual knowledge is not a reliable indicator of a mind capable of expansive or inclusive thinking. To do that, one has to possess qualities not taught in school such as compassion, understanding and wisdom.
3.      As for hate… I’ve come to believe it’s the emotion of choice for fearful, unwise, small minded individuals.
Which brings me back to my acquaintance.
He was quick to condemn both Glenn Beck and me for…well… actually… I’m not quite sure for what exactly and I doubt he is either.  However, the irony is that after receiving his inexplicable e-mail I Googled his name. What I learned was that not too long ago he was indicted and convicted of failing to report income as well as some dubious ethical behavior while working in city government. At least he had the benefit of representation and a trial before anyone judged and condemned him… and, oh yes, sentenced him to 6 months house arrest wearing a secure ankle bracelet.
So much for education, small minds and hate.
If you read my blog regularly you’d know that I like to close with some pithy comment but, quite frankly, I can’t top the paragraph that precedes this one. Truth may or may not be stranger than fiction but, in this case, its certainly more enjoyable.
